Psychiatric Care

Our psychiatric services provide compassionate, evidence‑based care for children and adolescents navigating emotional, behavioral, or developmental challenges. We offer a calm, supportive environment where families feel seen, informed, and included in every step of the process. Our goal is not just symptom reduction — it’s helping your child feel safe, regulated, and understood while supporting the caregiver who walks alongside them.

What this service includes

Our psychiatric care is comprehensive, collaborative, and tailored to each child’s needs. Services may include:

  • Full psychiatric evaluation

  • Diagnostic clarification

  • Medication management (when appropriate)

  • Ongoing follow‑up appointments

  • Coordination with therapists, schools, and other providers

  • Psychoeducation for caregivers

  • Supportive psychotherapy within sessions

  • Guidance on crisis planning and safety strategies

We take time to understand the whole child — their history, environment, nervous system, and strengths — so treatment is thoughtful, not rushed.

How this integrates with Care

Psychiatry is one pillar of our integrated model. Your child’s psychiatric care is supported by — and connected to — the restorative services available to caregivers and children throughout The Self Centre.

This means:

  • While your child meets with the psychiatric provider, you may receive your own grounding support down the hall

  • Recommendations may include somatic practices, yoga, breathwork, or sensory‑motor activities

  • We collaborate closely with our therapy, yoga, and nutrition teams to ensure your family receives cohesive, not fragmented, care

  • You never have to navigate this alone — we help coordinate next steps, referrals, and school support when needed

Psychiatry is not isolated here. It’s part of a whole‑family ecosystem of care.

Who this is for

Psychiatry at The Self Centre is designed for:

  • Children and adolescents experiencing anxiety, depression, mood changes, behavioral challenges, or emotional dysregulation

  • Families navigating school difficulties, IEP/504 concerns, or developmental questions

  • Caregivers seeking clarity, guidance, and a trusted partner in their child’s mental health journey

  • Those who want a provider who listens deeply, collaborates openly, and integrates both clinical and somatic perspectives

Whether you’re in crisis or simply seeking answers, we meet you where you are.

Patient Choice & Sequenced Care

We believe families deserve options, autonomy, and a clear path forward.

At The Self Centre:

  • You choose the pace of care

  • Medication is never the only option — it’s one tool among many

  • We discuss risks, benefits, and alternatives openly

  • You can begin with psychiatry, therapy, somatic support, or a combination

  • Care is sequenced thoughtfully, based on your child’s readiness and your family’s needs

  • We revisit the plan regularly to ensure it still feels aligned

Our role is to guide, not dictate. You remain the expert on your child; we bring clinical expertise, compassion, and partnership.
